Dorothy F. Johnson

The Dorothy F. Johnson Center, formerly known as the Chapman Center, was renamed in honor of Dorothy F. Johnson, who dedicated 30 years as the center’s director. Under her leadership, the center became a vital community hub, offering programs for low-income residents, seniors, and families in the Chapmantown neighborhood. Dorothy’s unwavering commitment to community service, particularly as a black woman in a leadership role, helped shape the center into a space where all residents could come together. Today, the Dorothy F. Johnson Center continues to serve as a cornerstone of community pride and inclusion in Chico.
