Jerry Hughes Softball Field

Jerry Hughes Softball Field is named after Jerry Hughes (1931–2022), who shaped Chico’s parks as CARD General Manager from 1972 to 1991. He led the development of Community Park and the construction of the CARD Community Center in 1975. A leader in recreation, Hughes served as president of the California State Parks and Recreation Society and on the CARD Board of Directors. A Paul Harris Fellow Award recipient from Chico Rotary, he was also a devoted outdoorsman and Giants fan. His legacy continues through the parks he helped create.
