Kristie's Nature Lab

Kristie’s Nature Lab is a hands-on learning space where visitors can explore the wonders of Bidwell Park through microscopes, interactive exhibits, and self-guided activities. Designed to foster curiosity and environmental stewardship, the lab allows guests to examine local flora and fauna up close, study the meandering paths of Chico Creek, and engage in activities that deepen their connection to nature.
The lab is named in honor of Kristina “Kristie” Priano, a dedicated junior naturalist and volunteer at the Chico Creek Nature Center. Kristie spent countless hours caring for animals, educating young visitors, and immersing herself in the beauty of the park. Her passion for wildlife and her dream of working with animals made her an unforgettable part of the Nature Center community. Tragically, Kristie’s life was cut short in 2002 at the age of 15, but her love for nature continues to inspire through this space. Kristie’s Nature Lab serves as a lasting tribute to her spirit, ensuring that future generations can experience the same joy and wonder she found in the natural world.
