CARD Introduces Movies in the Plaza in Downtown Chico
May 1, 2025

Grab a date, bring a friend, and grab your outdoor chair and join the Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) for the debut of Movies in the Plaza—a new outdoor movie night designed with adults in mind. The event will take place on Friday, May 9, from 7–10 PM at City Plaza in Downtown Chico.
Settle in under the stars with live music by Webster Moore, a beer and wine garden operated by 86'D Cocktails, and a screening of the 1997 sci-fi comedy classic Men in Black. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to relax and enjoy a perfect spring evening in the heart of downtown.
“Movies in the Plaza is a great opportunity to partner with the Downtown Chico Business Association and the City of Chico to create a fun and vibrant event for the community,” said Holli Drobny, CARD’s Director of Administration. “We’re excited to offer a new kind of outdoor movie night that brings a fresh experience to City Plaza.”
This free event is open to all ages, and 21+ can enjoy a beer and wine garden. Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends, a fun date idea, or just a relaxing evening under the stars, Movies in the Plaza is the perfect way to kick off your weekend.
