Costumes, Popcorn, and Halloween Magic at CARD’s Free Movies in the Park

The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) invites the community to celebrate the Halloween season with a spooktacular evening under the stars at Movies in the Park on Friday, October 24th, at DeGarmo Park. This free family event will feature a special outdoor screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas—the beloved film that brings Halloween and Christmas together in one magical tale.

Festivities begin at 5 PM, with the movie starting at dusk. Guests are encouraged to come early for Halloween-themed fun, including a costume contest at 6:15 PM with multiple categories to win, a scavenger hunt, bounce houses, face painting, games, and more. The Chico Community Band will also perform live, filling the park with their spookiest tunes before the movie begins.

Food trucks will be onsite serving up a variety of delicious eats and drinks for purchase, and guests can enjoy free movie-style popcorn to complete their cinematic experience. Families are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and their best costumes for an evening of festive fun and community gathering.
