Movies in the Park Returns with a “Sweet” Night of Family Fun!

Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is thrilled to bring back one of Chico’s most beloved summer traditions — Movies in the Park! This free family event returns to DeGarmo Park on Friday, August 22, offering a magical night under the stars with food, music, games, and a showing of Wonka on the big screen.
The evening kicks off at 6 PM with a variety of family-friendly activities. Kids and grown-ups alike can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, Wonka-themed crafts and games, and a sweet scavenger hunt inspired by the magical world of Willy Wonka. DJ Tilda will keep the party going with music that will have everyone dancing before the film begins.
“We are so excited to host Movies in the Park again this summer,” said Holli Drobny, CARD’s Administrative Director. “This event is truly one of our favorites — and it’s clear the community loves it too! It’s such a joy to see families come together for an evening of connection, creativity, and fun.”
Guests can grab free movie-theater-style popcorn and check out a mouthwatering lineup of local food trucks offering both savory and sweet treats for purchase. And thanks to the generous support of Race Communications, our platinum sponsor, along with support from all of our community partners, the night promises to be an unforgettable experience for all ages.
Last year, Movies in the Park was honored with 3rd place in Best of Chico’s Best Family Entertainment category — and this year is shaping up to be even sweeter!
