The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is excited to announce new efforts to expand senior programming, beginning with the return of a beloved event: Senior Lakeside Lunch. This special gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 18th at 12:00 PM at Lakeside Pavilion, 2565 California Park Dr., and promises an afternoon of delicious food, friendly faces, and lively fun.

Senior Lakeside Lunch is back to offer adults ages 50 and older a relaxed opportunity to reconnect, socialize, and build community. The event will also feature a round of Bingo for those feeling lucky! Registration is required as space is limited, and the cost is just $5 per person. To sign up, visit chicorec.gov/senior-lakeside-lunch or call the CARD office at 530-895-4711.

“This event is just the beginning,” says Kayla Jansen, Recreation Supervisor at CARD. “We're committed to creating more opportunities for seniors to stay active, social, and connected. It’s incredibly important to all of us at CARD that we support the health and happiness of our senior community.”

In addition to the Lakeside Lunch, CARD offers a variety of ongoing senior programs including:

·         Gentle Integral Yoga with longtime instructor Tulya McLaughlin

·         Move and Feel Better: Gentle Fitness with instructor Mary Jo Brown

·         Tai Chi with longtime instructor Barbara Alderson

·         Trips & Tours with Premier World Discovery

“We’re just getting started,” adds Jansen. “Our goal is to keep growing these offerings so that every senior in our community can find something that brings them joy.”
