Field #3 at Community Park was dedicated in 2001 as the John Barile Softball Field, honoring the memory of a beloved CARD employee. John worked in the Park Division for more than 20 years, serving as Park Supervisor until his passing from cancer. Following a petition signed by over 500 family members, friends, and community members, the District named the field in his honor, recognizing his decades of service and lasting impact on Chico’s parks and recreation spaces.
