May 10, 2023

Register for The Mutt Strut and show off your dog's skills!

Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) invites you and your furry friends to have a paws-itively great time at our dog-friendly K-9 Classic outdoor event, Saturday, May 20th from 10 AM–1 PM at DeGarmo Park in Chico.

Show off your pup’s skills and/or cuteness and enter The Mutt Strut (sign-ups from 10–10:45 AM)! This “Best in Show” contest starts at 11 AM and includes a dog costume parade where you can showcase the creativity and cuteness of your furry friends (humans are also encouraged to wear a costume!), or you can test their agility in our obstacle course! All dogs are welcome to participate, and all will have the chance to win fun prizes for Best Dressed, Biggest Pup Personality, Most Talented, Pet & Owner Look-Alike, and more.

The Chico Police Department will also be there with a very special Police K-9 Demonstration at 12 PM, where you’ll see first-hand the awesome level of control, agility, and extensive training the Police K-9s have.

Dog lovers of all kinds are encouraged to attend and enjoy some human activities as well – We’ll have dog-themed crafts such as a decorate-your-own dog treat station by the Chico Dog Barkery, and a leash design contest by Butte Humane Society. The winner will get their design turned into a real leash! There will also be music, food trucks, and activities for the kiddos like bounce houses, face painting, and more.

For more information visit and follow CARD on Facebook and @ChicoRec on Instagram.
