Chico’s 4th of July Parade Celebrates Youth Leaders as Grand Marshals
July 2, 2025
The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is proud to announce three exceptional local youth as Grand Marshals of this year’s 4th of July Parade, taking place Friday, July 4th at 9:00 AM sharp in Downtown Chico.
Selected for their leadership, service, and outstanding contributions to the community, our 2025 Grand Marshals represent the best of what Chico’s young people have to offer:

Brett-Ellie McGuire, 17, is a student at Chico High School and a rising star in the welding and metal fabrication field. As part of a Rotary Club community project, Brett took on the challenge of fabricating new metal signs for Caper Acres, bringing student designs to life with incredible precision and skill, an impressive feat for any welder, let alone a high school student. In addition to leading campus tours for incoming freshmen, Brett has launched her own welding business and continues to serve as a role model for her peers.

Eisley DenBoer, 12, attends Marsh Junior High School and shines as a student, athlete, volunteer, and leader. Eisley is involved in band, cheerleading, volleyball, and is an active member of the California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF), the WEB program, and Girl Scouts. Her dedication to giving back includes volunteering at local long-term care facilities and participating in the Special Olympics in Oroville. Her kind spirit and love for her community are evident in all she does.

Carys Acker, 16, is a student-athlete at Pleasant Valley High School (PVHS), where she plays basketball and tennis and has served as a team captain for two years. Carys is also a leader off the court, volunteering weekly with Grace Church, serving on the Grace Youth Board, and acting as the PVHS Student Representative for Athlete Committed. She speaks at schools and conferences about youth leadership and substance prevention and was recently hired as a CARD Summer Camp Leader. With a passion for working with kids, she plans to become a teacher.
“We’re thrilled to recognize Brett, Eisley, and Carys as our 2025 Grand Marshals,” said Lindsey Barrett, Public Outreach Specialist for CARD. “Each of these young individuals has made a real impact on our community, and we’re honored to celebrate their accomplishments in front of the whole town.”
Bring your family, wear your red, white, and blue, and join us Friday, July 4th at 9 AM in Downtown Chico to cheer on these inspiring youth and enjoy a festive, patriotic morning full of community spirit.
