CARD’s Summer Camps Still Have Openings—Don’t Miss Out on the Fun!

Skate & Scooter Camp is back this year!

The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is excited to offer over 100 unique summer camps this season—and there’s still time to sign up! With options for kids of all ages and interests, these camps are designed to create lifelong summer memories filled with adventure, creativity, and community. CARD is encouraging families to register soon and help fill every spot.

“From skateboarding and science to Shakespeare and tie-dye, there’s truly something for every child this summer,” said Erin Morrissey, CARD Director of Recreation. “We want every camper to have the chance to experience the joy and connection these programs provide.”

A few camps still looking for campers include:

Advanced Bot Builders Camp (Ages 12–15)
Put your new skills to the test using the VEX V5 robotics platform! Campers will join teams led by alumni of Butte Built Bots and Inspire Robotics to design, build, and operate a robot in a friendly competition at the end of the week.

Build ‘n Hike LEGO Camp (Ages 6–12)
Perfect for young LEGO enthusiasts who love both creativity and the outdoors! Campers will explore Bidwell Park, build forts along the creek, and return to the studio to let their imaginations run wild with LEGO creations.

Camp Chi-Da-Ca (Ages 4–5 & 6–11)
Held in the beautiful Hooker Oak Park, this traditional camp offers hiking, nature games, songs, water play, and classic summer fun under the trees.

Camp Chico Creek (Ages 4–5 & 6–11)
Located at the Chico Creek Nature Center, this nature-based camp features creek walks, animal encounters, science labs, fort building, and more—perfect for sparking a love of the outdoors.

Camp Shakespeare: Much Ado About Nothing (Ages 5+)
Young performers will explore the world of Shakespeare through games, movement, and rehearsal, culminating in a fun and engaging performance of the classic comedy.

Pop & Rock Band Camp (Grades 7–12)
Musicians of all levels are invited to join a band and learn to play and perform popular rock and pop songs. Guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, and vocals welcome!

Skate & Scooter Camp (Ages 8–16)
This camp is perfect for beginners and seasoned skaters alike. Learn tricks like ollies, kick turns, and carving in a supportive and exciting environment.

Slime & Mess Making Camp (Ages 5–13)
A sensory adventure awaits! Campers will create slime, experiment with textures and colors, and enjoy hands-on, messy fun that’s as educational as it is entertaining.

Summertime Delight (Ages 6–11)
This classic day camp is packed with swimming, field trips, crafts, games, sports, and more—everything kids need for a memorable summer.

Tie-Dye Camp (Ages 12–15)
Young artists will explore color theory and experiment with a variety of dyeing techniques—including ice dyeing—while creating unique wearable art each day.
