Gobble Games Bring Frozen Fun to Chico Ice Rink on November 20
November 12, 2025

The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) invites the community to celebrate Thanksgiving in a whole new way at The Gobble Games, taking place Thursday, November 20 from 4–8 PM at the Chico Ice Rink. Families and community members are invited to enjoy a festive afternoon and evening filled with ice skating, turkey-themed relay races, crafts, live music, and the first-ever Turkey Bowl.
Participants can test their balance and teamwork in icy relay races for prizes, while spectators can enjoy free activities including face painting, fall crafts, and contribute to a canned food drive in partnership with the Jesus Center. Live music will be provided by The Sun Followers, rounding out a fun and family-friendly celebration.
The evening's main event, the Turkey Bowl, begins at 6 PM. The Chico Fire Department and the Butte County Sheriff’s Department will go head-to-head using a frozen turkey as a bowling ball to knock down pins.
“Our goal was to create a fun, new Thanksgiving tradition at the Chico Ice Rink,” said Vanessa Ortiz, Public Outreach Assistant. “We wanted an event where families could come together, enjoy friendly competition, and make memories that will last for years to come.”
